This campus was established in 1968 in the name of National Vocational Training Center (NVTC) which was affiliated to Tribhuvan University in 1972, three years after its establishment and renamed as 'College of Education' in Nepal as the first college for teacher education. 

Sanothimi Campus, established in 1968 in the name of the National Vocational Training Center (NVTC), is a constituent campus of the Faculty of Education under Tribhuvan University. It is an entirely non-profit making institution but financed by the Government of Nepal. It was a renowned campus of Kathmandu valley to generate vocational and skilled manpower since it had been offering vocational education. It had been running a two-year Diploma training program before the implementation of the National Education Planning System 1971.

The campus got changed into the Faculty of Education in 1972 and Tribhuvan University declared it as its constituent campus in 1973; it was renamed as 'Central Institute of Faculty of Education'. Due to the demand for general education instead of vocational subjects during the 80s, it stopped running classes in Agriculture education after the academic year 1980/81, In the academic years 1985/86, the general education program was introduced in Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) and Bachelor's Level respectively along with the vocational education. In the academic year, 2006/07 Sanothimi Campus launched a Master's Program offering eight subjects. Since 2010, the Information Communication Technology Education program has been running here. Science Education (Biology education with semester system- the first program in Nepal) is recently offered in M.Ed. Three programs such as four years/ eight-semester B. Ed. The program, one-year B. Ed. The program, M.Ed. program (4 semesters) along with 10 departments have been running.

The campus has been offering various subjects (courses) for specialization. The subjects of specialization in bachelor level (four years B.Ed./ PGDE/ eight-semester B.Ed.) are English, Mathematics, Science, Population, Health & physical education, Nepali, Home science, Industrial, Political science, Economics Geography, Primary education, Early childhood development, Informal Educational Administration & Supervision, Nepali education, and newly offered curriculum ICT education as well.

Similarly, the campus has been offering ICT Ed., EPM, Curriculum, Health, Population education, Nepali education, English education, Biology education, and Mathematics education at the master level. The campus has introduced M.Ed. semester system (in Open and Distance mode) in three subjects viz Nepali, Health, and Curriculum and Evaluation education since 2014. In summary, the programmes offered by the campus could be shown as follows:

➤ Four years B.Ed. programme (for general subjects/ departments)

➤ Eight-semester B.Ed. programme (for BICTE)

➤ Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programme (for graduate students from other streams)

➤ M.Ed. programmes (four semester)

The Campus has introduced BBS program since 2080 (2023 A.D).

Geographically, the college is located in the peaceful spacious area of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality - 2, Sanothimi, of Bhaktapur district in Bagmati Province- away from the busy and bustle city of Kathmandu. The contact address of the college is 'Sanothimi Campus, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, Nepal. 

Sanothimi Campus was established during 1968 in the name of the National Vocational Training Center in the financial aid of the United States of America. The buildings of the college were traditionally built but now are old and torn out. Moreover, the cracked and caused to leak 2072 buildings due to earthquake of 2015 compels us to reconstruct the building in time so that the academic programmes of the college could be run properly.
